Reforum – Research Coordinator

Reforum conducts research on policies within post-secondary institutions and collects insights to advise on incorporating equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) practices. At Reforum, we work with researchers, school administration, and EDI experts to create frameworks that aim to better address the needs of marginalized students at the post-secondary level.

‍Opportunity ‍

Reforum is seeking Coordinators to either conduct research on institutional Reporting and disciplinary and Accountability processes, or organize team data and logistics.

Within the research fields, Coordinators will conduct research and analysis to gain a better understanding of system-based issues at Canadian post-secondary institutions. The primary function of this role is to develop a working hypothesis for improving these systems, and design models for reform outcomes that will be implemented on a rolling basis across institutions. All team members will report to the Reforum team lead for the Winter 2021 term (Zooni Khosla).

Duties & responsibilities ‍

• Prepare research-based recommendations and implementation guidelines for Canadian post-secondary institutions
• Test recommendations via a working relationship with an implementation body at the respective institution (e.g. Sexual Violence Prevention and Response Centre)
• Attend and participate in biweekly meetings to update team on progress and existing roadblocks

Qualifications

• ‍‍Can commit at least 5-8 hours/week
• Current student or new graduate (less than one year) of a Canadian post-secondary institution
• Strong critical thinking skills, and understanding of potential sources of bias in research
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Open to diverse perspectives and ability to apply constructive feedback
• Prior experience conducting research analysis around equity work is a bonus
